Trump is freaking out about Sally Yates on Twitter

President Donald Trump is definitely feeling more than a little anxiety about former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates’ testimony on Monday afternoon.

Trump referred to Yates’ highly anticipated testimony more than once on Monday, initially tweeting (then deleting) and tweeting again asking members of Congress questioning Yates to demand to know the details of how certain classified information was leaked to the media. Trump also attempted to deflect the fact that he appointed a foreign agent to be his National Security Adviser onto his predecessor, even though former President Barack Obama fired Flynn from his administration in 2014.

During her testimony, Yates is expected to contradict the Trump administration’s official narrative surrounding the former National Security Adviser. While both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence say that Flynn was fired for lying to the White House about his history of doing paid work on behalf of foreign governments, and specifically about calling Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak as an envoy of the White House prior to Trump’s swearing-in as President, Yates is expected to testify, under oath, that she had warned the Trump White House about Flynn’s background, only to see President Trump hire him anyway.

Yates was fired by Trump shortly after his inauguration over her refusal to enforce his Muslim immigration ban in her position as the acting head of the Department of Justice. Her testimony is expected to begin at 2 PM Eastern.
