GOP Congressman demands purge of non-Trump loyalists from US government (Video)

Congressman Steve King (R-Iowa) is now calling for  a full purge of all appointees from the Obama administration from government service.

During an interview on MSNBC, Rep. King suggested the flow of leaks in the White House came from those left over from the Obama administration.

“I would take a look at all of my political appointees, and anybody who came in as an appointee of the Obama administration, I would end that tomorrow morning, or tonight, for that matter,” King said.

However, most of the White House leaks have come from Trump’s inner circle. One example the Washington Post gave was when transcripts of the calls between President Trump and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, along with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, were leaked to the media shortly after they took place:

“The leaks of Trump’s calls to Turnbull and Peña Nieto may have been the most surprising of all; it’s rare for transcripts of presidential phone calls or details of meetings with foreign leaders, especially potentially embarrassing exchanges, to leak so soon afterward,” wrote the Post’s Paul Farhi.

The timing of Rep. King’s remarks coincides with Attorney General Jeff Sessions recently firing all remaining appointees from the Obama administration still working in the Department of Justice. The DOJ maintained that the mass firings were done to “ensure a smooth transition.”
