Sean Spicer conducted an entire press briefing with food in his teeth, and Twitter is having a field day

Sean Spicer’s daily press briefing in front of the White House Press Corps was attended by a special guest — and we’re not referring to Jeff Sessions.

A piece of lettuce was lodged in Spicer’s teeth throughout the press briefing, in which the White House Press Secretary introduced Attorney General Jeff Sessions to talk about his Department of Justice’s war on so-called “Sanctuary Cities” that are refusing to comply with President Trump’s harsh immigration policy. Twitter couldn’t stop with sanctuary city references when talking about the hidden culprit in Spicer’s craw. Another Twitter user made a well-timed pun about Spicer’s penchant for speaking “in word salads.”

Twitter user @Hip_Threads theorized that Spicer was intentionally sent out in front of White House correspondents with food in his teeth as a means of distracting the public from the Trump agenda:

The food in Spicer’s teeth became such a hot topic that even actor Jim Carrey weighed in, saying that the spare piece of food in the White House Press Secretary’s mouth was having the side effect of grossing out anyone trying to make sense of what he was saying. This prompted another Twitter user to share a GIF image of Carrey in the 1990s comedy Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, when Carrey’s character had several full pieces of asparagus in his lips:

Of course, others simply pointed out that Spicer must not have many true friends, as a real comrade would presumably let Spicer know about the chunk of food in his teeth before he took the podium:
