Kellyanne Conway Says Tax Money Wasted on Russia Probe. The Daily Show Producer’s Response Is EPIC.

President Trump’s Russia investigation has Kellyanne Conway all riled up, and a tweet from a Daily Show producer perfectly shuts down her argument.

In a recent segment on Fox News, Conway complained that the investigation was wasting “tens of millions of dollars,” implying it should be shut down to save taxpayers’ money. Conway also defended Trump’s insistence that he was not under investigation despite previous tweets that appeared to confirm the investigation. CNN’s David Wright captured Conway’s remarks on Twitter as the segment aired:

Of course, the argument that the Trump administration wants to be frugal with tax dollars, given Trump’s multiple vacations to his own resort properties — the most glaringly obvious example of wasting taxpayers’ money. Anthony DeRosa, who works for The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, made that comparison after seeing David Wright’s tweets:

The estimated cost of just one of Trump’s visits to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida is roughly $3.6 million, when taking into account the security costs for Trump and his entourage to be moved securely from Washington, DC to Palm Beach County. In his first 100 days as president, Trump managed to spend more than $20 million in taxpayer dollars on vacations. When comparing that to the total $97 million spent during the Obama administration on presidential vacations, Trump is on pace to surpass his predecessor’s eight years of vacation costs in less than one year as president.

In other words, nice try, but no dice, Kellyanne.
