The Conservative Political Action Conference just got caught handing out flags for President Trump’s speech that look exactly like Russia’s flag.
Each of the handheld flags has three red, white, and blue stripes. The only problem is the flag’s color scheme mirrors the Russian flag’s color scheme, with white on top, blue in the middle, and red on bottom. The name “TRUMP” is written across the blue stripe in the middle.
Once CPAC organizers realized how bad the optics were of thousands of CPAC attendees waving tiny Russian flags to celebrate their president taking the stage, staffers quickly scrambled to confiscate the flags they had just handed out.

The Russian flags with Trump’s name on them don’t do the new president any favors, as his campaign was accused of having regular contact with Russian government officials throughout the election. When White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus asked the FBI to dismiss the story of Russian collusion as false, the agency refused, and is continuing to investigate the allegations.
President Trump spoke at CPAC on Friday morning, where UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage — the architect of the badly flawed Brexit initiative — also spoke. Trump doubled down on his comments attacking the media for publishing “fake news,” and insisted that he would somehow bring back coal mining jobs, even though coal mining seems to have passed its peak.
“We’re going to have beautiful clean coal and put our miners back to work. Sorry to tell you that folks but the miners are going back to work,” Trump said.
