Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer just brilliantly satirized President Trump’s cabinet meeting in which he asked senior staff to compliment him.
On Monday afternoon, it was reported that during Trump’s first official meeting with his full cabinet, that he asked senior members of the administration to take turns praising him. HuffPost reported that the awkward praise circle began with Vice President Mike Pence, and proceeded to go all around the table:
During a Cabinet meeting at the White House, the president touted the “record-setting pace” of his legislative agenda and claimed “never has there been a president, with few exceptions” who has accomplished more while in office.
Trump then went around the table and called on each official to deliver brief remarks, beginning with Vice President Mike Pence. The bizarre scene that ensued resembled something out of North Korea, as each Cabinet official attempted to outdo one another with nice statements about their boss.
“It’s the greatest privilege of my life to serve as vice president to a president who is keeping his word to the American people, and assembling a team that’s bringing real change, real prosperity, real strength back to our nation,” Pence said.
Sen. Schumer (D-New York) took a stab at what the meeting must have been like in a Twitter video with himself and several members of his staff.
“Lucy, how’d we do on the Sunday show yesterday?” Schumer asked one of his staffers.
“Your tone was perfect. You were right on message,” the staffer said.
“Michelle, how’d my hair look coming out of the gym this morning?” Schumer asked.
“Nobody has better hair than you,” she responded.
Sen. Schumer and his staff were unable to keep from laughing for even 25 seconds. Watch the full video below:
