Trump Attacks “Morning Joe” Co-Hosts on Twitter, Republicans Respond

While the MSNBC show “Morning Joe” was on air Thursday, the President lashed out at the co-hosts of the show on Twitter in a pair of tweets that are shocking even by his standards.

Republican lawmakers responded with harsh criticism, calling this behavior unfit for the Office of the President. Officials pleaded with the President over social media to stop these kinds of tweets and restore some kind of dignity to the office.

Other Republicans tuned in on the sexism of concertizing Mika Brzezinski’s appearance, especially in light of how it seemingly had no place in the statement other than to disparage a woman for her looks.

Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) was one of those voices critical of the inappropriate tweeting Thursday morning saying that government and media both have jobs to do and should treat one another with civility.

Collins is an important swing vote on the President’s healthcare reform bill. Representative Tom Reed (R-NY) said on CNN that he thinks it might be an effort to distract attention from the trouble that bill is facing in Congress.
