Jeff Sessions suggested his own resignation to get away from Trump

Sources close to President Trump just leaked to ABC News that his partnership with Attorney General Jeff Sessions has become so unpleasant that Sessions has floated the possibility of resigning.

The two have soured on each other ever since Sessions’ hurried decision to recuse himself from the ongoing investigation into the Trump campaign’s ties to Russian hackers. Several sources reveal that Trump is still furious with Sessions over this last minute decision – a decision which he was only informed of minutes before the public announcement.

Trump reportedly lashes out at Sessions on a regular basis for this, making Sessions so frustrated with the president that he suggested his own resignation. Justice Department spokesperson Sarah Isgur Flores declined to comment on whether Sessions’ resignation proposal was a threat or an offer.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer declined to confirm whether Trump still trusts Sessions.

“I have not had that discussion with him,” Spicer said.

“So you can’t say if he has confidence in his attorney general?” Spicer was asked.

Spicer responded: “I said I have not had a discussion with him on the question. I don’t, If I haven’t had a discussion about a subject, I tend not to speak about it.”
