Patriots quarterback Tom Brady skipped out on President Trump’s congratulatory White House dinner for the 2017 Super Bowl champions on the same day that Brady’s wife tweeted out a link to an anti-Trump protest.
Supermodel and philanthropist Gisele Bündchen tweeted a link to a video which promotes the People’s Climate March, an upcoming Washington, D.C. protest against President Trump’s climate policies.
“March for climate, jobs, and justice. To change everything, we need everyone,” Bündchen tweeted. The Facebook page she links to says, “With the Trump Administration doing everything in its power to undo progress on climate change, the time has come to TAKE TO THE STREETS.”
Her husband Tom Brady said he was only skipping out on the White House ceremony because of “personal family matters.” He declined to publicly endorse a presidential candidate during the election, despite his widely known friendship with Trump. The president’s 10-minute congratulatory speech never mentioned the MVP quarterback once.
Bündchen has long been an outspoken advocate for environmental rights, which perhaps set her on an inevitable collision course with the environmentally-hostile president.
Environmentalists by-and-large oppose Trump for his drastic roll back of Obama-era environmental protections and for his appointment of a man who does not believe in man-made global warming to run the Environmental Protection Agency.
