You may already be driven to drink every time President Donald Trump issues a tweet. But on Thursday, those tweets will be a welcomed blessing at one DC-area bar.
Union Pub will open at 9:30 AM tomorrow in order to allow bar patrons to watch the testimony by former FBI Director James Comey. Donald Trump has already indicated that he may “live tweet” the event, responding to any (and possibly all) allegations the former director makes against the president.
And whenever that does happen, Union Pub plans to offer a free round of drinks, according to the business’s official Facebook page.

Comey is set to testify about the investigation into Russian meddling in the U.S. elections last fall, and will discuss how President Trump tried to influence him to drop the investigation entirely. While Comey has suggested he won’t call it as much, many legal experts have suggested that Trump’s attempts to get Comey to stop investigating the possibility of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign is a possible obstruction of justice. Comey was fired by Trump for refusing to drop the case.
Many eyes will be glued to the testimony, which will be broadcast on all of the major networks. But at Union Pub in DC, at least one eye will be on the bartenders, who will likely have a busy morning and early afternoon serving patrons, if Trump does indeed send out a “tweetstorm” of commentary.
Union Pub is located at 201 Massachusetts Ave NE in Washington DC, in case you happen to be in the area.
