The Congressman who interrupted Obama’s State of the Union just got what he deserved (Video)

Rep. Joe Wilson, a Republican from South Carolina, is notoriously known for shouting out “You lie!” during former President Barack Obama’s joint address speech in 2009. At the time, his intrusion was seen as heroic by many conservatives, and disrespectful by most everyone else.

But now it seems the Congressman is getting a taste of his own medicine.

At a town hall event in Graniteville, South Carolina, Wilson was this time on the receiving end of chants from constituents, who for shouted out at the representative “you lie!” while also booing on several occasions during the meeting.

Nearly 200 were in attendance during the town hall on Monday evening, according to the Charleston Post and Courier. Video of the event also shows that Wilson, in addition to receiving chants of “you lie!” in response to his statements on repealing the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), received substantial criticism from the crowd after touting his record on support for defending women.

“I’ve also supported the local solicitor here, and the solicitor in Lexington all efforts to make sure that violence against women is fully enforced,” said Wilson.

Attendants immediately booed, shouting “you lie!” to the Congressman, who voted against the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act in 2013. Wilson also received boos after he suggested that climate change wasn’t affected by human-made factors, according to the Aiken Standard.

Many within the crowd of 200 included members of Indivisible Aiken, a group of Aiken-area grassroots activists who oppose the agenda being put forth by the administration of President Donald Trump and other conservatives in Congress.
